We’re making some changes around our email services, so we want to explain what that means for you. Here are the details.
Why are we deprecating Horde Email?
- Horde Email is not supported by the Horde Group.
- Horde Email is not being actively developed.
- Horde Email is not in line with our current product strategy, which focuses on providing a modern web interface for email and calendaring, along with server-side and client-side integration support for popular cloud providers (such as Office 365).
What’s Next for Horde Email?
Horde Email is being deprecated in 2020, but don’t worry: Horde email will still be available for download until RoundCube is ready to take its place.
RoundCube is a webmail client that comes with a lot of features and can be downloaded from the website. It’s open source and licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2 or later).

You don’t need to do anything right now. Horde Email will continue working until the end of 2021. If you want to keep using it after that, we recommend upgrading to RoundCube for continued support and maintenance.
