Backup Policy and Terms

Fusion Arc Hosting provides automated backups on select hosting plans to help protect customer data and support disaster recovery. This Backup Policy explains what is included, how backups work, and what responsibilities remain with the customer.

By using any backup-related feature or requesting a restore, you agree to the terms below.


1) Overview

We provide offsite, automated backups powered by JetBackup for eligible hosting plans. Our default backup system is designed primarily as a disaster recovery (DR) solution, but it may also be used to restore a recent full cPanel account snapshot when available.

Backups are offered as a convenience feature and are not a guaranteed service-level commitment, unless explicitly stated in a separate written agreement.


2) What’s Included by Default

Backup Type

Eligible plans include:

  • Offsite backups

  • Compressed backup structure

  • Automated retention of up to the last 3 days of restore points

  • Automatic pruning (older backup snapshots are removed as new ones are created)

Restore Capability

When restore points are available, backups may be used to restore:

  • The full cPanel account (files, databases, email, and settings depending on the account and backup contents)

  • A prior snapshot from within the last 3 days (subject to successful backup completion and availability)

Because our default backups use a compressed archive structure, file-by-file browsing and selective restores may be limited compared to incremental backup formats.


3) Plans Eligible for Default Backups

Default JetBackup backups are included on the following plans:

cPanel Web Hosting Plans

  • ProEdge

Reseller Hosting Plans

  • Elite Reseller

4) VPS & Dedicated Servers

VPS and Dedicated Server services are not covered by the default JetBackup backup policy described on this page, and they may require a separate backup solution, separate configuration, or an add-on service.

Some VPS/Dedicated plans may have their own backup options available depending on the service type, node, and provisioning configuration. Availability and retention may vary.

5) Retention and Pruning Behavior

  • We retain up to 3 days of compressed offsite restore points by default.

  • As new backups are generated, older snapshots are automatically pruned (removed) based on retention settings.

  • Restore points may not be available for every day if a backup fails or is incomplete.

Retention policies are subject to change at any time per Section 10.


6) Backup Frequency and Timing

Backups are scheduled automatically. Backup frequency and run windows may vary depending on:

  • server load,

  • account size,

  • number of accounts on the node,

  • maintenance windows,

  • upstream provider conditions.

Backups may run during off-peak hours but are not guaranteed to occur at a specific time.


7) Limitations and Exclusions

To improve backup reliability and reduce unnecessary storage churn, we may exclude certain high-churn or temporary paths from backups (examples may include cache directories, temporary files, and some log files). These exclusions help backups run consistently and reduce the risk of partial or locked-file issues.

Backups may not include:

  • content generated dynamically that is not stored in your account’s filesystem/database,

  • temporary/cache files that can be regenerated,

  • externally hosted content not stored in your hosting account,

  • third-party services or SaaS content (email providers outside cPanel, external DNS providers, etc.).


8) Customer Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining your own independent backups if you need longer retention, file-level restores, compliance-grade retention, or guaranteed recovery objectives.

  • Ensuring your website/applications are configured properly and not storing critical data exclusively in excluded temporary locations.

  • Keeping your contact information current so we can reach you if a restore requires approval or coordination.

We strongly recommend that customers with business-critical sites maintain an additional independent backup.


9) Restores

Restores may be available through cPanel/JetBackup interfaces or performed by our support team depending on your plan and the restore type.

Restores are subject to:

  • availability of restore points,

  • technical feasibility,

  • system integrity,

  • and applicable support scope.

We reserve the right to decline a restore request in cases involving:

  • security incidents requiring investigation,

  • abuse policy violations,

  • account termination,

  • or where restoration could compromise system stability.


10) Changes to This Backup Policy

Fusion Arc Hosting may modify backup schedules, retention periods, storage vendors, destinations, exclusions, and restore methods at any time to improve reliability, control costs, or respond to operational/security requirements.

When practical, we will provide notice for major changes. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.


11) No Warranty / Limitation of Liability

Backups are provided on a best-effort basis. While we take reasonable steps to maintain reliable backups, we do not guarantee that:

  • backups will always complete successfully,

  • specific files/databases will be present,

  • restore points will always be available,

  • or that a restore will resolve a particular issue.

Fusion Arc Hosting is not liable for data loss, business interruption, or damages resulting from backup failure, incomplete backups, customer misconfiguration, malware, third-party compromise, or circumstances beyond our control.


12) Need Extended Backup Retention?

If you need retention longer than 3 days, more frequent restore points, or additional restore options, we may offer extended backup retention add-ons (availability varies by plan and node). Contact support for options.
